The Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) have finally reached a deal that will bring the writers’ 14-week work stoppage to an end.

This would mean the strike would be finished a whole two months earlier than the last time the WGA fought the AMPTP for a better contract in 1988.

Former Walt Disney chief executive Michael Eisner went on record as saying a resolution had been reached during a broadcast of CNBC’s financial investment program Fast Money, adding about the writers that, “They will be back to work very soon.”

However, Eisner did not disclose any of the terms of the proposed deal, which the WGA has said it will bring to its entire membership in a meeting scheduled for Saturday February 9^th.

Although some might say that a celebration might be premature as there is still a chance that the rest of the WGA might reject the deal, many top level executives and anonymous sources from the inside of the talks (on both sides) have gone to the press to announce a solution has indeed come to fruition. If this is true, then production on television shows will soon be in full swing once more—perhaps just in time to salvage the remainder of the spring season.

Of course, upon their return to work, some writers will endure severe reductions in their salaries due to studio cutbacks meant to balance out new spending plans. A small price to pay for justice to be done. Now we can all stream full episodes and extras of our favorite shows online without feeling as if we are ripping the clothes off the backs of the writers who made them possible. What a way to end the week.
