Property is a status symbol. It can be like sporting a fancy pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses or having the ability to put your dog in a handbag. That’s hot… But property has allure unlike poodles in a purse. I’m talking about owning your very own island, people. And what’s better than landing a lease for property that doesn’t even exist yet? That’s what we’re referring to here: The world’s best reclaimed island properties that you’ll eventually want to get a piece of.
My favorite has to be Tulip Island off the coast of Holland. It’s shaped like the flower (or is planned that way) and the Dutch want to build this thing to combat overcrowding. These people are land reclamation artists when it comes to this stuff, so I think they can pull it off. Of course, they’re also more afraid of flooding than a terrorist attack, so who is going to stop them?
Perhaps ecological activists, because building Tulip Island is said to be harmful for the ecosystem. But if you think that’s a lofty goal, how about The Universe?
Maybe you’ve heard of The World, a man-made archipelago off the coast of Dubai. It looks exactly like the planet’s continents, except in cute little miniature form and undoubtedly ready to be peddled to the highest bidders. Well they’re going for a island representation of our universe next, complete with the sun and planets. You can see what the already-completed World looks like to the right. At least they won’t have to contend with Pluto.
