Comedy Group Improv Everywhere Gives McDonald’s Bathroom Some Class

Posted 2/21/2008 6:16 am by AJ Star and Andrew Sorcini

britishschoolboys.JPGFrom the people who brought you “Frozen Grand Central” and “Cell Phone Symphony” comes “McDonald’s Bathroom Attendant!”

Although these are not feature length films, these Improv Everywhere (IE) videos pack all the comedy of any movie into a mere few minutes. Improv Everywhere was founded in 2001 by comedian Charlie Todd. Essentially, IE is a comedy troupe of a very different color. A color Crayola doesn’t even know about.

Their website explains that the group’s purpose is to “cause scenes of chaos and joy in public places.” Their “McDonald’s Bathroom Attendant” mission from February 2005 surely achieved that goal (see section about British school boys and photographic evidence above).

Watch as one IE agent (yes, they call themselves “agents” and their pranks are actually “missions”) stands in a New York City McDonald’s men’s room posing as a bathroom attendant. The video featured below shows an exchange between Ted the manager and the agent, Todd Simmons, performing the mission. Simmons was able to carryout his mission for well over an hour rather than getting discovered and kicked out after a few minutes.

Trouble came, however, when one member of the cleaning staff became suspicious of Simmons and, as the IE commentary assumes, reported his presence to Ted. Simmons explained away his being there by saying that he was part of a promotion headed by the “corporate office.”

All of the IE agents made it out safely, but not before making $6.92 in tips from generous patrons who were all very pleased and not at all confused by the presence of a bathroom attendant in a fast food restaurant. Perhaps it was the fact that the McDonald’s chosen for the site of the prank is on Broadway and features flat-screen TVs for menu displays. Not to mention it’s three stories tall. Or maybe it was just that the majority of the estimated fifty customers Agent Simmons assisted were tourists.

    Roomba Cat Loves Cleaning

Posted 11/18/2008 10:12 pm by Ron Hogan

Just look at this. This cat is smart enough to ride on the back of a Roomba, maybe even drive the Roomba, and what is my cat doing right now? She’s sleeping in my bed, on top of my covers, because she knows I’m not mean enough to give her the boot so […]

    Everyone Knows It’s Slinky-Cat

Posted 11/11/2008 6:00 am by Ron Hogan

I wasn’t a cat fan until I actually got one, now I can’t get enough of the crazy little critters. Actually, that’s not entirely true, the one I have is more than enough cat for me to deal with, but I love seeing people’s cute videos of cats. Take, for example, Slinky Cat. […]

    Meet Adorable Pygmy Hippo-Baby Monifa

Posted 11/07/2008 2:24 pm by Ron Hogan

There is nothing cuter than a little baby animal. If that animal is a rare pygmy hippo, a very endangered species whose homelands in West Africa are torn by constant warfare, that little cuddly baby is even more special. Monifa, the newest baby hippo born at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia, is […]

People will do a lot of crazy things to get into the Guinness Book of World Records, but an army of rubber ducks doesn’t cause any headache as bad as the ones Asha Mandela must suffer. Ms. Mandela, you see, might have the world’s longest dreadlocks. When I get my hair cut, I […]

    Banjos And Brain Surgery

Posted 10/18/2008 1:25 pm by Ron Hogan

It’s not every day you get to watch someone perform brain surgery, but for actual brain surgeons, I’m sure this is something they see all the time. What makes this story different is the fact that, this time, the brain surgeons got to have a little musical performance during the surgery, courtesy of the […]

    Drunk Man Humps SUV

Maybe I’m a little bit jaded by my college experience, and by living in a town with a serious partying weekend every year, but I’ve seen a lot of drunk people doing a lot of drunk things.  Plus, with the Internet, you can see drunk people doing some exceptionally insane stuff.  I thought I’d seen […]

Well, the cat isn’t quite a ninja, as it was caught […]

    Geraldo Doesn’t Surf

Posted 9/15/2008 6:30 am by Ron Hogan

Geraldo Rivera has one of the longest careers in television that I can think of. It seems like he’s been around forever. From his eponymous talk show that dominated the 90’s to his current slightly more legitimate career as a reporter for Fox News (among other places), the man with one of the […]

Bears (Well, Guys In Bear Suits) Fear No Hurricane

Sometimes I just love people. Take, for example, this guy in a bear suit who showed up during KHOU TV in Houston’s coverage of Hurricane Ike. Even while Galveston’s getting pounded by massive waves, this dude’s out there having a good time. Sick as it might be, I haven’t laughed so hard […]

Don LaFontaine, who passed away this morning at Cedars Sinai Hospital at age 68, wasn’t a man you’d know by looking at him. He’s been deeply involved in the entertainment industry for 33 years and he’s been featured prominently in over 5,000 movie trailers, but he could walk down the street and not even gather […]

    The Drunken Summer

Nothing cools off a hot summer day like a cold beer.

Just ask these two fellows participating in the ultimate summer activities while under the influence of a bunch of brewskis.
Whether it’s driving a lawnmower while under the influence or attending a baseball game, beer makes for funny videos.

The No Longer Pregnant Man Gives Birth

Posted 7/24/2008 9:22 am by Ron Hogan

Thomas Beatie, the famous pregnant man you read about first at Pop Fi, is definitely not a hoax. On June 29, Beatie and his partner (girlfriend, wife? I’m not sure how it works when it comes to pregnant men and their lady friends) welcomed a 9.5lb baby girl, Susan Juliette, into the world. […]
