You have a problem. The commute to work, those long road trips with family. They’re boring.
You have an iPod, but Never Mind the Bollocks can only drown out so many crying babies. You’d like to watch some of your favorite television shows or movies on the ride, but nobody wants to pay for something twice.
If we own the DVD already (and perhaps paid an exorbitant amount of money for it), why shouldn’t we be able to put it on our iPods or laptops if we are so inclined? Music albums can be ripped onto computers and added to iPod playlists. Why shouldn’t our DVD collections be the same?
The techno-centric blog Make Use Of has got you covered. They’ve recently posted an article detailing how to upload and convert the contents of a DVD disc to a computer. The video content is then available at your fingertips to be viewed on your computer or transferred to a portable media player of your choice.
And there’s no need to worry if you aren’t the most technologically savvy person in the world–the directions are written for someone with a beginner’s level of understanding. Simply brilliant.
And the best part is that all the software Make Use Of, well, makes use of is completely free.
All you have to do is download two programs, the DVDFab HD Decrypter and Handbrake. The first program will upload the entire contents of any DVD disc (yes, special features included), and the second will convert each DVD disc to the correct format so it can be viewed on the computer or an iPod. It’s as simple as that.
