After throwing a huge blowout bash, it is inevitable that you will be stuck with more leftover alcohol than you can fit in your fridge, basement and bedroom closet combined.
Parties are just like that. You over-buy because the fear of running out of beer halfway through the night scares you more than finding out no one you invited drinks beer (yeah, right, I know).
Luckily, Cooking Light has published a lifesaving article featuring three topnotch recipesthat will put your leftover brewskies to good use.
The first is a beef carbonnade rich in garlic, onions and light beer. Excellent! You weren’t going to drink that anyway. And if you were, then you have a nice beverage that will compliment your meal perfectly.
The second recipe featured, “Beef Stew With Leeks and Beer,” also calls for a light beer. Because the beef and vegetables simmer in the beer broth for approximately two hours, the beer becomes the focal point of flavor in this recipe rather than sharing the limelight with other herbs and spices.
Finally, Cooking Light recommends their recipe for “Prairie-Fire Beans” to use up excess booze. Dried pinto beans, bacon and regular beer make for a smokey and flavorful addition to any meal. This third recipe can be served as a side dish with the other two recommended dishes or with your own beer-centric creations.
