Eliot Spitzer’s Call Girl Photos Released

Posted 3/13/2008 8:40 am by Trace Sharp and RJ Saddler

There isn’t a doubt in the world that recently resigned Gov. Eliot Spitzer has gone down in a blaze of the burning stupids. Spitzer is a man who has been the Elliot Ness of his generation, taking on Wall Street and members of the Gambino family as quickly as he could when he was Attorney General of New York.

kristen.jpg He irritated a lot of people how he blatantly used the court of public opinion in the cases he tried which was somewhat more destructive than how he tried cases in actual court. It was savvy and by some accounts, intimidating. The method worked for him though and it got Spitzer enough attention to win the office of governor in 2006.

Yet, the court of public opinion has backfired on him when it was revealed he was paying thousands of dollars for “time” with Kristen, a high-priced call girl.

Spitzer has set off a national frenzy with this revelation on several levels and this time it was public opinion that backfired on him. It’s more than the sex scandal, although that’s what’s getting most of the attention, that has sparked America’s interest. It’s an example of the highest form of hypocrisy which in this day and age will come back to bite any politician. We’ve seen this happen to Larry Craig as well within the last year.

The identity of his favorite girl from the Empire Club VIP was announced yesterday and pictures have been released of the woman who he was pay $4,100 an hour to spend time with. It is being investigated if he used illegal means in obtaining the cash to pay her, which sparked the internal investigation in the first place.

Gary Hart didn’t recover when details of his sex scandal played out in the press. Pres. Bill Clinton’s legacy will always have the shadow of his dallying with Monica Lewinsky.

As Eliot Spitzer is accused of paying for his time with Kristen, his scandal propels him into not being remembered for any of the public service he has done. And if it’s proved that he used illegal means to procure the cash, the man is in more hot water than even he could imagine from his days in the DA’s office.

    Pirates Of The African Coast

Posted 11/21/2008 8:30 am by Ron Hogan

It might not be a pirate’s life for you and me, but there’s plenty of pirates pillaging the high seas.  If you don’t believe me, you can check out the International Chamber of Commerce’s Live Piracy Map, where you’ll see where these incidents are taking place, when they’ve taken place, what sort of ship was […]

The Obama Haircut Is Either Very Cool Or Very Creepy

Posted 11/20/2008 1:08 pm by Ron Hogan

People are very excited about the election of Barack Obama.  One kid got so excited, in fact, that he got Obama’s visage shaved into the back of his head.  We’re talking his name, head, shoulders, facial features… the whole nine yards!  Kwame Boyce-Deacon is now an official Internet sensation.
It’s not the best likeness I’ve ever […]

    The Screaming Newspaper Sculpture

Posted 10/30/2008 12:52 pm by Ron Hogan

Like I said last night, I’m sick of everything related to the news. Fortunately for me, artist Nick Georgiou agrees with me. That’s what inspired him to turn newspapers into works of art. As Nick said, “The piece was inspired by all that’s happening right now- the printed words decline, the economic […]

    Smashingly Good High Speed Photography

Posted 10/10/2008 2:37 pm by Ron Hogan

The world moves at incredible speeds.  The lightning quickness of a hummingbird’s wing, the slow and stately tortoise… these are the things that make up our world.  But what happens when you take something fast and capture a split second of it?  You get beautiful high speed photography like the picture you see above you.  […]

    A Tribute To Yankee Stadium

Posted 9/24/2008 2:08 pm by Ron Hogan

Since I said goodbye to the much less historic RCA Dome, I’d be remiss if I didn’t say goodbye to the big ballpark in the Bronx, Yankee Stadium. Built in 1923, Yankee Stadium has seen a ton of history. As such, there are lots of neat things that happened there. Mental Floss […]

“Dome, Sweet Dome” No More: The Deflation Of The RCA Dome

Posted 9/24/2008 12:45 pm by Ron Hogan

It will only take about 45 minutes to permanently alter the skyline of Indianapolis, Indiana.  Twenty-four years ago, the RCA/Hoosier Dome was opened.  At 10:30 AM this morning, the giant fans keeping the stadium’s roof up were turned off starting the deflation process.  By the time you read this, the home stadium of the Indianapolis […]

    The First Day Of Fall

Posted 9/22/2008 12:10 pm by Ron Hogan

It is the first day of fall today, and everywhere the weather is starting to cool down (finally, September had some days in the 90-degree range here!).  That means Halloween is right around the corner, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas and New Year’s Day, then 2009.  Time really does fly, doesn’t it?  If your trees are […]

The USS Harry S. Truman In Lego Form

Posted 9/22/2008 9:01 am by Ron Hogan

It took $20,000 worth of plastic gray bricks, but Malle Hawking of Munich, Germany, has built a LEGO replica of the USS Harry S. Truman, one of the US Navy’s nuclear aircraft carriers.  As you can read in his story, he was inspired by the Discovery Channel documentary “City of Steel,” about the ship’s construction, […]

Bigfoot On The Beach Or Surfin’ Sasquatch

Posted 9/18/2008 2:17 pm by Ron Hogan

As dedicated Bigfoot blogger NewsComa could tell you, Sasquatch likes to party. Judging by the picture of Bigfoot’s recent trip to Roanoke, Virginia, he likes to party just a little bit too much. That’s why the poor man-ape is passed out face-down on the sand. Fortunately, he’s got that thick woolly coat […]

    After The Gas Crash

Posted 9/14/2008 5:56 pm by Ron Hogan

Everyone and their mother is scared about the supply of gas.  Thanks to Hurricane Ike clobbering America’s major gas refining/oil producing area not long after the previous hurricane, Gustav, hit nearly the same area, fuel prices have shot up throughout the country.  Where I live, gas went from $3.40 to $4.15 in two days, triggering […]

    Accidentally Naughty Signs

There are always signs out there that, when you look at them, you just know whoever put the sign up probably wasn’t reading it closely.  As someone who wasted five years of college as an English major (plus a year of grad school, so that’s six years of wasted time and money), I see signs […]
