It’s a Seusstastic day here at PopFi, and pretty much everywhere else on the Internet, as today is the 105th birthday of the one and only Dr. Seuss. Well, it would have been his 105th birthday had he lived that long. Dr. Seuss was the author of over 600 childrens’ books in his 87 years on earth, and has inspired countless others with both his writing and his artwork. Here’s a great gallery of Seuss-inspired street art from Trend Hunter. For those that prefer the man’s words, here are some stories and trivia about 10 of his most famous works from Mental Floss.
While I’ve had issues with the folks in charge of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, my respect for the man and his message has never wavered. His work is legendary and valid even today, which is the sign of a truly visionary talent. Every child should be required to read Dr. Seuss, and every adult should be required to reread Dr. Seuss. We need reminders of his lessons today.
