Remember back to 1992, when computers were basically brand new but starting to gain forward momentum? If you used a computer in school like I did, then I have no doubts you remember the classic anti-piracy pro-copyright video, “Don’t Copy That Floppy.” But that was many years ago, and the video is no longer relevant to the kids since nobody has floppy disks anymore. But worry not, the SIIA is back and they’ve released an updated version of “Don’t Copy That Floppy” to threaten everyone’s mothers with arrest.
As it turns out, the SIIA ended up finding a way to get people not to pirate software. They wait for the RIAA to start suing and demanding jail time for offending pirates and thus, everyone stops copying their floppies. Blackbeard’s treasure wasn’t a pile of burned CDs for good reason! Apparently they’ll even throw your mother to the ground via SWAT team if you bootleg Big Mama’s House.
