Tyler Bradt is a madman. I have the utmost confidence in saying this, too. Tyler set the world record with a kayak freefall of 186 feet. It took him a grand total of 3.7 seconds to plummet 186 feet, and he reached at least 100 miles an hour in the midst of his gigantic fall. He bested the previous world record by 59 feet, and that record was only a few weeks old! Bradt’s record free fall was captured on film by the Daily Mail, and the images are incredible.
So why did Bradt do this? Well, for one, because he could. For two, because he thought he could do it without serious injury. Aside from a broken paddle and a sprained wrist, he was right. Here’s what Tyler had to say about his record.
“I hope it encourages people not to run huge waterfalls but to understand that the only limits that exist are the ones you create, no matter what you are doing.”
You know? That’s a good point. Don’t go throw yourself down waterfalls just because you can, but don’t let anyone dissuade you from your dreams, either! This is definitely a sport for real men.
