Some people need to be kept away from a hot microphone at all costs.  One of the prime examples of this is a rapper by the name of Kanye West.  Already famous for his anti-George Bush rant during a live telethon designed to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims and his constant hissy-fits at previous award shows, Kanye acted like a jackass again last night when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video at MTV’s Video Music Awards.

Sure, West has apologized and Beyonce Knowles gave Swift uninterrupted stage time later in the evening to make up for West’s boorish behavior, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that the man has a history of being a complete moron.  How he even made it to the stage uninvited is beyond me; shouldn’t security be on the lookout for stuff like this and keep strange men off the stage? I’m not a fan ofTaylor Swift; I’m also not a fan of Kanye West, Beyonce, or pretty much anyone else remotely involved with this year’s VMAs, but that doesn’t mean Swift didn’t earn her time in the spotlight or that she didn’t have the best video of the year according to whoever decides those things.

I believe that, for the good of all parties, Kanye needs to spend the next award show or five at home.  He’s clearly not capable of being taken out into public, because he’s shown he can’t behave himself.   Not agreeing with the winner is fine, but you can’t interrupt the lifelong dream of a 19-year-old girl by being an idiot.  He’s a 32-year-old man, not a baby.  The temper tantrums are unseemly.
