Meet Boomer. At 7 feet long from nose to tail, and 3 feet tall at the shoulder, Caryn Weber’s beloved pet Landseer Newfoundland just might be the world’s largest living dog. He’s a gorgeous giant, and all those big dogs are sweet-tempered and lovably clumsy, but the world’s largest living dog? Maybe longest or tallest, but largest seems out of the question given all the other Molossers out there.
Looking at the picture he looks pretty big, but I’m not sure about him being the largest living dog in the world. He doesn’t look particularly fat or broad. Do they determine largest dog by square footage? Length times height times width? It seems like such a subjective measurement in a pretty odd field. The tallest something or another is pretty easy to determine, but large brings in a whole new field of players in the form of the exceptionally rotund.
