It started out as a normal birthmark on the back of a 6-year-old girl. Li Xiaoyuan, like most of us, had a little mole. Unlike most of us, Li’s mole started growing. Well, the mole didn’t, but the hair inside the mole did, and now she’s become the “cat girl” of Fengkai, China. Poor little Li now has a coating of fine gray fur all along her back.
Doctors theorize she’s got a medical condition in which moles grow uncontrollably on her body, kind of like the tree man and the shell man, who both have medical conditions that caused their otherwise normal health issues to become unusual body-covering growths. Unlike those other two men, Li might be stuck living with her condition because the moles causing the hair growth are so big they might be too difficult to remove without causing potentially fatal hemorrhaging.
