If Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, then Monday, October 26, is the most horrible time of the year. Today is the day that British researchers claim is the least productive day of the calendar year. The culprit isn’t too much candy over the weekend, but too little sunlight during the work week. By now, you’ve noticed the sun isn’t as shiny as it once was, and that it gets darker earlier. Well, if you’re one of the many victims of Seasonal Affective Disorder, now’s about the time your depression and lethargy starts to kick in.
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Eight percent of all employees have taken sick days as a result of being too depressed to come into work. (I like to call mine mental health days.) Productivity will drop 50 percent today, and 14 percent of responders said their lack of productivity had gotten them a conference with the boss in years past. The best tip is to try to get a little more sunlight, as light will cure what ails you.
