I’ve seen enough movies about corrupt small towns to know a few things. First of all, the good cop that’s just trying to do his job is always going to get screwed over. Secondly, you don’t mess with the mayor’s criminal son. Cpl. Joshua Rowell found this out the hard way. When Jared Rydalch deliberately avoided a DUI blockade, Rowell pulled him over and gave him a ticket for driving without a license. Not an hour later, Rowell was fired by Jared’s father, Mayor Dan Rydalch.
I’m sure this kind of thing happens all the time. In fact, I’d bet money on it. Everyone who knows a cop has used a favor to get out of a ticket before. When your dad runs the whole town, you can pretty much do anything short of murder and skate by. That’s one of the fringe benefits of power!
