If there’s one thing you can say for dogs, it’s that they are the most loyal pets a person can have. I mean, I like my cat and all, but she won’t travel across a war zone to reunite with me the way Nubs, a wild Iraqi dog, did when he was separated from his owner, Major Brian Dennis. The journey of Nubs from random stray to beloved pet is a remarkable one. The inspiring story has also been recorded in the upcoming book Nubs: The True Story of a Mutt, a Marine & a Miracle from publishers Little, Brown Young Readers.
I have to say I love those loyal pet stories. The fact that Nubs made it across a very dangerous country after having survived a serious leg injury is one of the more incredible animal journeys since the Survivor Dog made it 4 months stranded on a tropical island. I’m glad that Nubs and Maj. Dennis have been reunited in America after such a long, strange journey. It’s nice when good people (and dogs) have happy endings, isn’t it?
