Displayed in the lobby of computer motherboard manufacturer ASUS‘s world headquarters in Taiwan is a very unusual piece of silicon-enhanced art. No, not silicone; silicon! You know, the kind that is used to make all our computer chips and consumer electronics? ASUS engineers scrounged up a bunch of old motherboards (easy to do in a motherboard factory) and computer RAM chips and soldered their own high-tech tribute to the Mona Lisa!
It’s a pretty cool take on the classic piece by Leonardo da Vinci, isn’t it? (As opposed to a pretty hot take on the Mona Lisa, if you’ll pardon the coffee-based pun.) The work is intended to be a reminder of both the parts that have made the company what it is today and an affirmation of the company’s promise to support any sort of crazy idea, no matter how oddball it might seem.
