Every time there’s a hit new vampire movie, the people who believe they are vampires come crawling out of the woodwork. Case in point, on 20/20 this week, they interviewed a variety of sexual, blood drinking, and psychic vampires (warning: video auto-starts)who believe (or at least say loudly) that they are distinct from humanity. It never fails. Here’s the science behind the vampire mythos.
You know who I’m going to blame for this latest resurgence in vampire activity. Twilight, of course. With The Twilight Saga: New Moon breaking box office records left and right, sparkly vampires are on every dumb product that they can squeeze out of Chinese plastic junk factories, and it’s inspiring disturbing copycat attacks. Now it’s bringing vampires out of the woodwork for their 15 minutes of media-generated frenzy.
Thanks, Stephenie Meyer.
