People are willing to steal anything that’s not nailed down. In some cases, even if it is attached to something, there’s somebody out there crazy or desperate enough to steal it. For example, a Linn County, Oregon, woman’s beloved Tennessee walker gelding is now hairless. Why? Because someone stole its tail.
Apparently there’s been a rash of thefts of horse tails, since the hair of a horse’s tail can be used for hair extensions. Of course, whether that’s for humans or other horses is up for debate, but braiding extensions into a horse’s preexisting tail is pretty common when it comes to show horses, and the Tennessee Walking Horse in question had a pretty nice two-foot-long blond tail.
Or it did, rather. Now it’s the only bald-butt nag in the stable. Perhaps the horse’s owner should consider a rump wig for her newly-shorn pet pony?
