Since a 33-year-old amateur photographer’s snaps of the inside of a Vienna, Austria zoo have been put on Facebook, she has gained over 500 followers since the page went live Tuesday. You might be wondering why that’s so unusual. Well, this photographer is covered in orange fur and lives inside the zoo. She’s Nonja, the orangutan photographer!
Zookeepers at Nonja’s zoo rigged up a special camera for Nonja and her three cagemates. When they press the button to take the picture, they get a raisin. The apes don’t realize they’re taking pictures and have no formal training in photography, so most of the snaps are lousy, but they don’t care so long as they get a dried grape. To Nonja and her companions, the camera is just a tool they need to get food, like a fishing spear.
