Nearly a year ago, PopFi covered billionaire/maniac Richard Branson’s desire to start a space tourism industry. Well, the spaceship model he developed has finally become a reality, as the real SpaceShipTwo has been revealed to the public after countless thousands of dollars in engineering work. Not only is SpaceShipTwo now a reality, it has also been attached to mothership Eve and the next stop? Inexpensive space tourism!
It’s amazing that ship only cost $200,000, isn’t it? You’re too late to get a spot on the maiden voyage, but I imagine with that low cost and the relatively high cost of a ticket that Branson will be rolling out his SpaceShips by the dozens. In fact, apparently he’s already working on Spaceport America (the world’s first spaceport) in the New Mexican desert to keep his fleet of interstellar spaceplanes flying high.
I can’t wait to do this for myself. I’ve always wanted to go to space, even if it was just a technical trip.
