On the surface, it seems like a harmless production. Hedgehog House, at a children’s theater in Zagreb, Croatia, is a fun-looking little play with a lot of fuzzy, cute anthropomorphic animal puppets as the stars. Everyone loves puppets; how could this possibly go wrong? Well, parents are complaining that Hedgehog House is more Avenue Q than The Muppet Show, and that the foxy… er, fox, is the problem. She’s too busty and salacious for the children!
One of the things that bothers parents the most, aside from the fox’s busty physique, is that she has a fantasy sequence about a hedgehog she is in love with. Parents say that the dreams she has about his spiny prickles has a very strong sexual connotation, but theater director Bozidir Violic had this to say in response. “What is so unusual about a hedgehog that might give you a prick?”
Riiiight.
