James Gruver is not a man to trifle with. While he’s an older gentleman at 61 years of age, he’s no push-over. After all, this 6’8″ mountain man strangled a rabid bobcat to death with his bare hands after it attacked him at his Crown Creek Trail, Arizona home.
The cat jumped at him and knocked him down, but he just reached up and held onto its neck until it could no longer breathe. How crazy is that? Gruver calls it a death grip. To whit, “I just kept a death grip on it because I realized when I was down on the ground, this is getting real serious.” The bobcat attack didn’t get serious until after it knocked the guy down? This guy’s a madman!
I hate seeing an animal get hurt, especially an animal that can make cool Savannah cats when crossed with normal felines, but then I remind myself it was rabid and that it attacked the man. Just because it’s cute doesn’t make it any less dangerous. The fact that the poor critter is out of its misery is for the best.
