Hollywood actress Brittany Murphy, who made her name as Eminem’s love interest in 8 Mile and broke into Hollywood as the dorky sidekick in the classic 1995 comedy Clueless, has passed away.  She was discovered in an unresponsive state at about 8 AM this morning by her husband Simon Monjack, and was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.  The cause of death is believed to be a heart attack at this time, but toxicology tests are no doubt being done as we speak.

It’s a shame to see someone die so young.  If you’ve ever seen Murphy in the neo-noir classic Sin City, then you’d know she’s got the big expressive eyes and golden hair of a classic 1940’s damsel in distress, which made her perfect for Frank Miller’s universe of tough guys, crooked cops, femme fatales, and gory violence.  It’s a great movie, and probably one of her last good roles.
