It’s no secret that I’m a huge nerd. As often as I mention role-playing games and as often as PopFi covers LARP events, it should be pretty obvious that at certain times in my life I indulged in a little role-playing. These days, it’s mostly via computer RPGs and video games, but I have been known to break out the 20-sided die for table-top gaming. One game I always wanted to play, but never did, was the Warhammer 40K tabletop strategy game. One hardcore gamer took Warhammer 40K’s dystopian universe and made it real, crafting full-sided replicas of Warhammer weapons and uniforms.
You can find a lot of great images of his work at the Flickr page of Lt. E. Watts, the metal craftsman who build the weapons out of steel. He didn’t recycle old props, either; apparently he built his pieces completely by hand. This is some seriously epic gear (and this level of coolness explains why I’m so excited for a potential Warhammer 40K MMORPG).
