As someone who watches a lot of movies as part of his job, I’ve seen pretty much every remake out there.  By and large, they’re never as good as the original film.  While the special effects might be better and it might be louder, there’s nothing like an original, inventive movie with practical, old-style special effects.  However, have you ever wondered what some of the 2000-era blockbusters would have looked like in previous decades?  Then check out this great poster gallery at College Humor, featuring premakes of your favorite CGI extravaganzas!

Of the many poster ideas, from the horrifying Shaq in Avatar to the fun Zombieland future, I love the one pictured above.  The Lord of the Rings as a 70’s buddy comedy with Richard Prior, Gene Wilder, AND John Belushi?  Someone put me in a time machine, because that’s one I gotta see.  Those are three of my favorite comedy stars ever, and to see them all in the same film would be amazing.
