At one time or another, everyone’s gotten up on Christmas morning and opened some sort of toy.  Whether it’s just a GI Joe in a stocking or Barbie’s dream house, everyone who has ever gotten a present has gotten a doll or action figure of some sort.  While the toys kids get these days are fancy, full of electronic parts and technology, they’ve got nothing on the toys of yesteryear when it comes to sheer creepiness.  Just check out some of these disturbing pre-20th Century dolls.

Amazingly, these wooden fellows from 14th Century Germany aren’t the creepiest toys in the bunch.  It’s the baby dolls that really raise my hackles.   There’s just something about those creepy frozen porcelain faces that just gets me.  I think it’s the fact that the faces are all too big for the body they’re on, and that the faces all have these painted on dead eyes. Yeesh!
