Jessica Cox never let a little thing like being born without arms stop her. While she’s no relation to homeless plane thief Calvin Cox, she also had dreams of taking flight. So, the 25-year-old Tuscon, Arizona girl has become the first armless person to get her pilot license. With sincere apologies to Tom Petty, she’s feet… feet flyin’. (Sorry, Tom. That one’s staying in, because it’s too bad of a pun to take out.)
That’s right, this armless wonder can drive cars and airplanes with equal skill, among her many other impressive feet feats. (Again, sorry.) As her instructor Parrish Traweek said, “When she came up here driving a car, I knew she’d have no problem flying a plane.” It’s impressive to me for anyone to learn how to fly, but to do it with only your feat and to be the first person in the US to do so is just mind-boggling.
