Calvin Cox was looking to get out of Frederick, Maryland, and he wanted to do so in style. Tell me, is there a better way to get out of town than by hopping on board your own personal airplane and winging away to paradise? No sir. Nothing better than that. Unfortunately, since Calvin is homeless, he didn’t have his own plane. So, the transient stole a Piper Super Cub, but ended up crashing it because Calvin Cox is not a pilot.
How Calvin stole the plane is a mystery, but not the big mystery. The question is how did a guy who is not a pilot (but who may have some familiarity with airplanes) manage to crash a plane on the runway without ever leaving the airport? Did he just drive right off the edge of the runway and down into a forest or something? Did he get it off the ground only to have it land hard a blow out its wheels? Did he run into a flock of birds? Inquiring minds want to know!
