I’m always really interested in these baby naming trend lists, because I like to see what not to name my children when I have them. For example, for boys, Jack was the most popular male baby name in Great Britain, for the 15th year in a row. That’s a whole lot of Jacks! The most popular girl’s name was at least slightly more unusual: Olivia. You can check out the full list of the top 100 baby names for yourself.
You know one name I don’t see on there? Ron (or Ronald). In fact, I can’t think of any other Rons that I knew growing up. It’s not in the top 50 boy names for 2009, but there are several different variations on Zach/Zak/Zac/Zack. It’s for the best, I imagine. I like being different, and I like that when someone shouts out, “Hey Ron!” I know they’re either talking to me or the redheaded boy from Harry Potter.
