This weekend I watched a really good horror movie on SyFy called Midnight Meat Train. It’s based off a Clive Barker short story and is directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, who did Versus. The hero is a photographer named Leon (Bradley Cooper), who tracks a serial killer through the subways of New York thanks to a couple of lucky shots from his camera. It has all the evidence needed to catch The Butcher, as he and his girlfriend call the guy doing the killing, except that Leon loses his camera. Well, Andrew McDonald has a great series of images on his camera designed to avoid camera loss. Go check them out and tell me you’re not laughing.
Sometimes all it takes to avoid theft or permanent loss is to force the person who has your property to look you in the face. It’s easy to rip off a stranger, but much harder to rip off someone who has a personality, like Andrew does in his image series. If I found his camera, he’d be getting it back, if only because he cracked me up (and gave me a way to contact him).
