It’s one of the biggest, most brain-rattling hits I’ve ever seen on the football field. In college, Pat White was an All American quarterback running the option at West Virginia. His unique blend of speed and passing accuracy made him perfect for the Miami Dolphins, who run a option-based attack called the Wildcat. Unfortunately for Pat White, the guys in the NFL are bigger and faster than those in college, so when he takes a hit from Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor, the results are not pretty.
As you can see above (or go here if the video gets taken down), White is moving his arms and legs, but he was taken to hospital for observation. Obviously, when a guy gets knocked out like that, there’s going to be some residual effects from such a serious injury. You hate to see someone take a shot like that, even though the hit looks about as clean as it can get. It was just a bad angle and bad timing on White’s trip.
