It was a party that seemed like it would never end. At England’s historic Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales, 60 party-goers decided to book the hall and celebrate the coming of the new year in grand fashion in England’s highest-altitude pub. Unfortunately, they didn’t count on the freak series of snow storms that have hammered Britain and that buried the Tan Hill Inn beneath nearly 7 feet (or 2.1 meters) of snow! That night of partying stretched to a four-day lock-in!
However, all was not lost, despite being stuck without taxi service. Publican Tracy Daly allowed the customers to stay at the cut-rate price of 10 pounds per night, though there were some strict rules: the bar didn’t open until 5 PM. While the workers couldn’t get in and out to leave after work, the snowed-in partiers were reportedly very nice to staff and were consistently on their best behavior, which is great to hear.
It sounds like a blast to me. I’d love to get snowed in with power and heat and alcohol and 60 of my closest friends, wouldn’t you? Still, all good things must come to an end, and after day four, I imagine people were ready to change clothes and go home for a bit to sober up.
