It’s amazing the diversity in the world’s oceans. When people ask me how I can believe in Nessie and Bigfoot and all those other cryptids in spite of all the hoaxes, I simply point out that every day some scientist somewhere is finding some undiscovered new species of bug or plant or animal in thoroughly-traveled areas. For example, in the sea off the coast of Taiwan’s Kenting National Park, National Taiwan Ocean University professor Ho-ping Ho has discovered a new species of crab that’s been dubbed the strawberry crab. As you can see, strawberry is the perfect description for this bright red critter with little white bumps on his shell.
You know, for a mutant bug that lives underwater, I have to say that the strawberry crab is the cutest space monster I’ve ever seen. It’s just so… fruity and strawberry-like. Something about it makes me think it’d be the cuddliest crustacean that ever hired Sponge Bob Squarepants to work in its fast food restaurant. All he needs are green feet to make him look totally strawberry-like.
