Ed and Schelly Odeen were making their last stop on a long trip home. The Iowa couple had traveled from their home in Tipton, Iowa, to the Orange Bowl in Florida to see the Iowa Hawkeyes defeat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. However, when they made one last stopover in Mount Pleasant, some 80 miles from their home, they picked up a stowaway. When they arrived home, they discovered that a little calico cat had ridden home with them between the spare tire and bed of the pickup in the sub-zero temperature.
The kitten, which they lured out with a space heater and some deer sausage, earned the name Tebow because, as their daughter Becki put it, “she’s a crier.” The family believes that little Tebow is someone’s pet, because she knew how to use a litter box when they found her, and they can’t keep her because they already have a dog that doesn’t play too nicely with cats. They hope to find tearful Tebow’s real owners or a loving family to adopt her.
