Like most guys his age, 24-year-old Ruslan Moukanov has a love of cars that doesn’t match up with his budget for purchasing them. When he saw his first Rolls Royce Phantom, he was instantly smitten. I can’t say I blame him; it’s a gorgeous piece of equipment with all the features money can buy. However, he didn’t let his lack of money stop him from achieving his dream. Instead, he picked up his tools, built a car kit, and converted his old Mercedes into the car of his dreams.
While he didn’t build it from scratch, as you can see above, his conversion was a labor of love. I mean, building your own car is a lot of work. That’s a pretty epic achievement.
However, it’s not totally unheard of. For most American cars, if you want to change brands, all you have to do is buy the badges and change out a few superficial parts. For example, in the garage right now is a 1965 Pontiac Tempest. It’s basically the same car as the more famous Pontiac GTO and Pontiac LeMans, but with different badging, a different hood, and different grilles and headlights and taillights. If you want to swap it out and make it into a GTO, you just start changing those parts out. It’s not the same as a GTO (and you don’t pay the GTO insurance premium), but nobody will be able to tell the difference.
Kind of like Ruslan’s Mercedes-Royce.
