Rebecca Moore’s $20,000 family heirloom ring was thought lost forever after her car got broken into at a Joplin, Missouri, mall. Police took pictures and descriptions of the rings and forwarded them around, but there wasn’t much hope until the thieves tried to pawn the ring mere hours after stealing it. When they went to Newton’s Jewellery, they made their biggest mistake, because owner T.L. “Bunny” Moore spotted the ring and stalled the couple. Even the male thief’s attempt to swallow the ring was a big mistake, because he choked on it and coughed the ring up right in front of cops.
As it turns out, swallowing stuff isn’t as easy as it looks on TV. People choke on food constantly, so why would you think you’d be able to swallow a fairly sizable diamond ring when questioned by the cops? Well, I guess that’s what you expect from the guy who tries to pawn off a freshly stolen ring, rather than a guy who waits a couple of days until everyone forgets about the ring.
