Gye Gardner was on his way into his truck when he had a little accident. He hit his head on the boom and broke the earpiece on his Bluetooth headset. Thinking nothing of it, he slapped a little super glue on the broken bit of plastic and went on about his business. When he got a call from his boss, he thought nothing of slipping his earpiece back in and taking the call. Gye says, “I drove from Casuarina to Rapid Creek when I realised I had done something kinda stupid.” Turns out he’d glued the earpiece into his ear!
As we’ve seen before, glue and skin do not mix. Thankfully, Gye didn’t follow his first instinct when it came to removing the glued-in earpiece, which was to gouge it out with a pocket knife. He says, “I realised I didn’t want to see myself going to a doctor to put my ear back on after I chopped it off. So I used a spoon.” That was probably for the best. Given how his luck was going that day, between breaking his earpiece and following that up with gluing it into his ear, he would’ve cut his ear off.
