You know, you’d think that NBC would eventually learn, wouldn’t you? As it turns out, no, they don’t learn. And they probably never will learn, either. The network that brought you the Jay Leno/Conan O’Brien debacle, ticked off an army of affiliate stations and irritated Hollywood TV producers by eliminating 10PM dramas, and pretty much messed things up in every possible way has a history of this sort of thing. That’s why they’re behind five of the seven biggest flops in TV history, pumping millions of dollars into good programs marketed badly (like Kings) and bad programs (like Father of the Pride).
But hey, at least they can’t say they threw millions of dollars at Cop Rock, right? Yes, Father of the Pride was quite possibly the worst CGI cartoon in the history of cartooning, but at least it didn’t involve singing and dancing judges. Manimal did have a guy changing into animals, but a musical police procedural it wasn’t.
