If it were just one human accidentally shooting another, I wouldn’t be concerned. I mean, both former college basketball coach Bobby Knight and former United States Vice President Dick Cheney have shot people when they were supposed to be hunting, so accidents happen. However, when a dog shoots a hunter in the back? That’s when I get concerned.
The official story is this: a 53-year-old man was out hunting with his faithful lab, when he went off to retrieve his decoy ducks and pack up for the day. Next thing he knows, the gun (which had the safety on when he put it down) discharges and he’s shot in the back. The culprit? That very same faithful doggy, who officials believe somehow disengaged the safety and fired the gun by accident. Yeah, right.
The only logical conclusion is that dogs are out to get us. Between shooting us and bringing us poisonous snakes, this is some kind of canine uprising. First they take our jobs, then our lives. I, for one, welcome our new dog overlords.
