We’ve seen a lot of criminals getting caught because of the snow lately. It leaves tracks easy to follow and makes get-away driving a lot more difficult, so it’s only natural that the snow is helpful to police, but one man tried to make snow helpful to crooks and paid the price. An unnamed 23-year-old man led police on a high-speed chase just outside of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. When he wrecked his pickup in a ditch, he and another passenger jumped out and fled on foot. In an attempt to hide his presence from the cops, the fleeing 20-year-old accomplice buried himself in the snow.
As you might guess, it doesn’t end well for him. The cops were able to apprehend him, though they did have to call in the K9 unit to uncover his whereabouts. Still, burying himself up to his neck in the snow did allow him to hide just long enough to give himself a case of hypothermia, so obviously he was able to elude capture for quite some time. Just not long enough for his tastes, I’m sure.
