According to a new survey by MocoSpace, if you’ve been broken up with via text message, you’re not alone. The societal obsession with the cell phone is getting worse and worse. Some 57 percent of respondents have said they’ve been broken up with via cell phone, and on top of that, some 49 percent of those say they were broken up with via text message, rather than face-to-face (or at least voice-to-voice) relationship ending. I guess that’s only a natural continuation of the growing trend to having relationships begin in non-traditional ways.
Still, I can understand breaking up via cell phone, since these days most people have a cell phone and most of your talking takes place on said cell phone if you do have one, but a text message? At least try to be brave enough to do it verbally, rather than just completely chickening out and doing it via text message! That is quite possibly the lamest thing ever. I understand that nobody wants to end the relationship and be the bad guy, but if you’re going to do it, at least have some guts!
