Another day, another miracle escape from a bullet. We’ve had belts stop bullets, and Blackberries have stopped bullets, and now we’ve got badges stopping bullets. A police officer on patrol in the northern section of Las Vegas, Nevada, heard shooting coming from a nearby apartment complex. Of course, since it’s his job, he went to check it out.
While investigating the scene, a suspect jumped out with a gun and opened fire. The officer was hit, but returned fire. As it turns out, his badge stopped the bullet and prevented him from being injured. Of course, during the shooting, the suspect escaped and is still at large, but at least the cop escaped with only minor injuries.
That’s got to be a million-to-one chance, right? Or maybe less? How often do you take a bullet right on the chest, and that bullet hits right on the badge rather than someplace fleshy and full of vital organs?
