It’s been a goal of his since he was 14. That’s the year the family of Khagendra Thapa Magar first sent his name and photograph into the office of the Guinness Book of World Records in an attempt to get him listed as the world’s shortest man. Now with 29-inch tall He Pingping of China on the publicity circuit, claiming to be the world’s smallest man, the 18-year-old Magar, from Katmandu in Nepal, is taking matters into his own hands. Stymied by a lack of Guinness response to his most recent application, Magar’s family and friends have pooled their money and are flying Magar and his father to Europe in an attempt to get Khagendra Magar listed as the rightful world’s shortest man.
Magar’s first stop will be in Italy, where he is to appear on an Italian television show and get measured for the record. As for their next stop after that, they remain unsure. The parent company of the Guinness World Records organization is based in London, so that’d be where I’d head next, wouldn’t you?
