Gizmodo, the gadget blog, scored one of the biggest scoops in journalism history thanks to simple mistake. When Gray Powell, a software engineer on the iPhone team, went to the Gormet Haus Staudt, a German beer garden in Redwood City, California, he left something behind. As it turns out, and as Apple’s official letter proves, that something was the Apple iPhone 4G. You can check out the whole iPhone 4G saga, or just skip to the good stuff and read all about the new iPhone and its improvements, changes, and various upgrades.
Given all the hype that accompanies the iPhone, this has been a coup for Gizmodo. Being the first to get hands on the gadget that everyone wants is huge; it’s just a shame that someone had to screw up for this to happen. Gizmodo’s editor in chief, Brian Lam, has really proven this week that journalists on the web are just as good, maybe even better, than their print counterparts, as Lam proved this was an iPhone 4G beyond a reasonable doubt even before Apple was forced to confirm it.
