A few months ago, I mentioned a post about the 2K Sports MLB 2K10 no-hitter challenge. All you had to do was videotape yourself playing MLB 2K10 while throwing a perfect game, and viola, you’d be $1 million dollars richer. Well, the contest officially ended on May 2, 2010, and three days later, we’ve got ourselves a winner. Wade McGilberry, a 24-year-old man from Semmes, Alabama, has won the MLB 2K10 challenge and is now a millionaire.
The strangest thing about it is Wade isn’t your average sports gamer. While he does play first-person shooters on his Xbox 360, he is not a sports gamer. However, it only took him six tries to pitch his perfect game, and he only played for a half-hour to an hour at a time, just until his wife got home from work. (He’s also been unable to pitch a perfect game since then.) He’s using the prize money to pay off his mortgage, and the rest will be used so he and his wife can start a family and work on the next generation of video gaming McGilberrys.
