It’s one of the most common tricks in the book. When you’re dealing with a restaurant, or any business that routinely deals in cash, you’re going to eventually have to figure out a way to get that money in the bank without looking like you’re carrying around a garbage bag full of cash. When you’re Taco Bell, you just cram the money in a takeout bag and ease on down to the bank. However, one Taco Bell in Dayton, Ohio, accidentally gave a customer a $2000 breakfast when they gave away the bag with the night deposit in it.
A woman in her mid-20’s in a silver SUV ordered something about about 10:30 from the Brown Street location, which is near the University of Dayton and Miami Valley Hospital. Rather than giving the woman her food, the person working the drive-through accidentally gave the woman the night deposit bag full of cash! Security footage shows the hand-off, but aside from knowing the general type of car and her appearance, the car remains unidentified.
The restaurant’s normal routine is to have the manager drive up to the window and take the cash before driving to the bank; I imagine this will no longer be the case. As for the woman, she’s disappeared, and taken the cash with her. As often as I’ve had my fast food order screwed up? I’m keeping that money, too. They owe me.
