When I first heard about the Dell Streak, I figured that had something to do with a naked run through corporate headquarters from Michael Dell’s office to the city hall of Round Rock, Texas. However, the Streak has nothing to do with nakedness and everything to do with an Android-based tablet computer called the Dell Streak, which the company has just announced.
The Streak features a touchscreen of only about 5 inches, yet the guts of the gadget are more like the iPad than the iPhone 3G. The device features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, akin to the ASUS EEE netbook. It will also run off Android 2.2, the latest Android generation. It’s kind of a hybrid between a smartphone (in size and OS) and a netbook (in power and being able to run Flash).
So is the device going to compete with either of those? Probably not. If you try to do everything for everyone, you end up helping no one. Still, it’s worth a shot, right? It looks like a fun device.
