Ngurah Alit had one of the most unfortunate wedding ceremonies ever recorded. For one, he was forced to marry a cow he was found, ahem, deflowering in a field in the remote village of Yeh Embang on the island of Bali. He claims that the cow seduced him via flattery after turning into a beautiful woman. (No, really!) That’s got to be traumatic enough. Then there’s the fact that he passed out during the ceremony. And, to make matters worse, he didn’t even get to consummate his marriage, because after finalizing the wedding, his new cow-bride was promptly drowned in the ocean.
The unusual marriage ceremony was to serve one purpose: to cleanse the villaige of the bestiality taint. After the marriage, the cow was drowned in the sea; Alit, fortunately for the 20-year-old, was simply mock-drowned. Considering what they did to the cow, he got off lucky.
