The grisly call came into the Monroe County Sherrif’s Department late on Saturday night. A body was discovered in a boat, abandoned near Sugarloaf Key, Florida, within the Florida Keys. A young couple out for the night called it in, believing that they’d spotted a body in an abandoned boat. As it turns out, they spotted something, but it wasn’t a body, it was an abandoned mannequin.
Sheriff’s deputies caught a boat ride from Florida Fish and Wildlife to investigate the discovery, only to come away with an idea for a script for Mannequin 3. The abandoned body turned out to be just a hunk of lifeless plastic, and I’m not talking in the “person with too much plastic surgery” sense. This isn’t the first time a plastic person had prompted a panic, but it is one of the most interesting uses for a mannequin outside of a store display.
I have to admit, I kind of wonder what they did with the mannequin. And the boat, for that matter!
