While I don’t believe it was at the same auction as where Michael Jackson’s glove sold for $190,000, it was another great auction from Julien Auctions. It was also in Las Vegas, this time at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. The unusual keepsake this time wasn’t even something worn by a star, just a picture of the star taken from the inside of her ribcage. An x-ray of Marilyn Monroe’s famous chest sold for $45,000.
Taken in 1954 by Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, the precursor to Cedars-Sinai, was believed to have been taken around the time Monroe suffered a miscarriage at age 28. That’d make her the same age I am now. I’d imagine this is going to look great behind glass (or on one of those x-ray reader light box things) in someone’s house. I mean, MJ’s glove is cool and all, but this is like… this is a picture of one of the most famous hearts ever broken. This is something truly special.
